The Marina Bay Singapore Countdown Amplifies the Hopes, Dreams and Aspirations of Singapore's less privileged

RxR Magazine had the opportunity to witness a heart-warming event on 19 December as Esplanade - Theatres By the Bay hosted close to 200 beneficiaries from various Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) such as AWWA Community Home for Senior Citizens, The Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund, Breast Cancer Foundation, PPIS Student Care Centre (Jurong), Kembangan-Chai Chee Seniors Activity  Centre and Thong Kheng Seniors Activity Centre (Queenstown). Giving the less fortunate an opportunity to pen down their wishes on the spheres followed by the symbolic launch of spheres into the bay.

Jointly presented by Esplanade - Theatres By the Bay and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) this year, the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown celebrates its 10th edition of the countdown and ushers in Singapore's Golden Jubilee with a record 25,000 red and white wishing spheres to form a giant number "50" in the Bay.

Thereafter, the guests were treated to dinner and ended their evening with a performance by Brass Nation, a nine-piece brass ensemble of an alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, tuba, guitar and percussions configurations. The concert is part of Esplanade's "Celebrate December" festivities.

From the smiles on their faces, you can tell they had loads of fun!
