Wishing Spheres Project 2014 :: SG50

Since its first appearance in 2005, the wishing spheres have become a yearly tradition where Singaporeans from all walks of life are invited to pen a wish for the community and Singapore at Wishing Stations located island-wide. The Wishing Spheres will be set afloat in Marina Bay and form a magnificent installation on New Year's Eve.

Wishing Station at Marina Bay City Gallery

This year, in celebration of SG50 and to mark the 10th edition of the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown,  a record 25,000 wishing spheres will be available for the public to pen their wishes. 5,000 red spheres will be included for the first time to form a giant number '50' in the Bay. Each Wishing Sphere in the bay represents a heartfelt hope, a belief that New Year will bring new possibilities and a brighter tomorrow.

And for the first time ever, Great Eastern, a home-grown brand and the most established insurance company in Singapore is sponsoring the Wishing Spheres Project. It's great that so many local organisations are contributing towards this signature event for Singapore!

We dropped by the Marina Bay City Gallery, which is where one of the wishing stations is located and were greeted with a beautifully decorated façade of big red spheres! People can pen their wishes or maybe even draw their wishes on the façade, isnt that cool?

Majority of the visitors here are tourists and students from overseas schools on a field trip. They too were eager to pen their wishes for Singapore!

If you are feeling shy, you can also do the conventional way of inking your wishes on the Wishing Sphere located inside the gallery.

Kids will have fun...

...and so will the adults!

Gather the family and head on down to the various wishing stations located island-wide to pen your New Year wishes on the wishing spheres. Watch as your wishes are gathered and set afloat in  Marina Bay to form a stunning visual arts display!
