Disney Style Rides on Singapore Trains

Early this week SMRT rolled out its first Disney concept train on the Circle-Line route to mark the start of an 18-months collaboration between Disney and SMRT to bring Disney's favourite characters closer to over two million commuters in SMRT's transport network and hundreds of thousands more shoppers in SMRT's retail and digital networks daily.

The ceremony took place in the 'Star Wars' theme cabin, with the agreement being signed on a holocron* (for non-Star Wars fans, a holocron, short for holographic chronicle, is an organic crystal-lattice device that can store immense amounts of data and information.) by Ms Dawn Low, Managing Director of SMRT's commercial arm and Mr Rob Gilby, Managing Director of The Walt Disney Company (Southeast Asia) Pte Ltd.

Invited guests had the opportunity to board and admire the Disney-themed train before its first run. Some little guests came dressed for the occasion and had a ball of a time ogling at their beloved Disney characters.

SMRT and Disney will engage and reward commuters and customers in SMRT's transit network, and also at the Kallang Wave Mall in the Singapore Sports Hub and SMRT's e-shop, iMOB Shop. The specially designed promotions will be centred on upcoming movies in 2014 and films from the Disney, Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar libraries.

The first phase of the campaign , in celebration of the year-end festivities will feature the screening of the immensely popular movie 'Frozen' from 20th Nov to 31st Dec 2014, followed by 'Cinderella' in 2015 to usher in the Chinese New Year. The campaigns will also have on-ground elements such as meet-and-greets with the characters, story-telling through digital platforms and other activities etc.

We could be seeing an Avengers theme train in May 2015 when Avengers::Age of Ultron screens in theatres in May - won't it be cool after going to the movies to watch the movie, come out and hop onto the SMRT train travelling with the Avengers!
