Inside Out

Ulysses By The Bay :: #1 Elevated Bow, #2 The Merlion's Pulse, #3 The Flyer in Motion

The Möbius concept of the fourth dimension's existence is akin to the never ending cycle of the ethereal journeys people embark on, in search of material, emotional and spiritual actualisation. It is an intangible journey of learning, unlearning and relearning - assimilation, elimination and integration.

Heritage, growth and aspiration - these are the elements that pulsate in our every being. Pulse is about celebrating the identity and measurements of the constituents of Singapore in the past, present and future. Those pieces in a series represent abstract separation of a whole entity into its constituent parts in order to study the parts and their relations. Using the Singapore River as the landscape for discourse, Pulse invites audience to interpret and derive their own meanings and significance that the river holds for them. Be it heritage, experiences, hopes, dreams, aspirations and fantasies - these are small glimpses of how all of us journey in this modern society that is evolving with us - living inside out.

Juansa is an active volunteer at Kampung Senang thus in conjunction with the art exhibition Kampung Senang is showcasing "Boundless Love Collection" which features a souvenir collection of Mrs Lee Kuan Yew's personal items donated to Kampung Senang by the family of the late Mrs Lee. These items are special - not because they are expensive or luxurious, but because they are the very personal day-to-day items used by Mrs Lee. She was a woman who was the matriarch of Singapore's most famous family was an indispensable companion to her husband, a strict but loving mother to her children, and a doting grandmother to her grandchildren; she looked upon as role model by many woman. They speak of a graceful woman of sterling character who lived frugally, simply and practically. They revel her values and concern for the disadvantage in society.
