Travelogue :: Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral

When news first broke it was an absolute delight to know we have been selected by Aloft Hotels and MTV Asia to jet-set to Kuala Lumpur for the weekend to experience "Live @ Aloft Hotels" performance we could hardly contain our excitement and immediately started planning our itinerary! "Live @ Aloft Hotels" is a collaboration between Aloft Hotels and MTV Asia to help promote local up-and-coming music talents who performs at various Aloft Hotels' W XYZ Bars across China, India, Malaysia and Thailand. As well as to offer millennial travellers live music access while on-the-go across Asia.

Travelling in style

To maximize our time in Kuala Lumpur we took an early Friday morning flight arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 09:30am, we manage to clear immigration and collect our bags in under 30 minutes quite a jiffy don't you think? Getting from KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) to Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral was a breeze. We simply hopped onto the KLIA Ekspres, a non-stop direct train service to KL Sentral where Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral is located. The journey takes about 28 minutes; a round trip ticket cost RM 70 per person (estimated SGD 28), can be purchased online and printed out for scanning at the gantry.

Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral

Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral is designed for the Google generation of young creatives, Aloft is industrial chic meets plastic fantastic. Staff are super friendly and helpful. The Front Desk of Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral is in the shape of a circle, very much like a DJ Console for it is the 'heart' of the hotel after all. We heard they change their theme every 3 months. While we were there they had the theme of sunflowers and big fluffy pillows.

The Lobby area is spacious and consists of

Cool Concierge, you don't have to talk to a real-life concierge to get your restaurant
recommendations etc. you can access the desktops to look up directions and phone numbers,
make reservations, check on flight status and print boarding passes too and its free.

Wii corner right behind the Cool Concierge to entertain the kids while the
adults are busy checking in/out. Its fun for adults too as you can see!

Re:Mix Lounge, is equipped with a Phone Charging Station - very thoughtful of Aloft

Adjacent to Re:Mix is W XYZ Bar, Aloft's signature bar all over the world. We were immediately drawn to the animated cartoon drawings of personalities such as Elvis, Ronald MacDonald, John Lennon & Men in Black plastered on the wall. These lively paintings are interpretations of works of young and emerging Malaysia artists. During the day, one can enjoy some leisurely moments of games, drinks and snacks.

Perched on the top floor of Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral is the Infinity Pool which we believe is one of the high points of this hotel and has an urban view of the surrounding area.

A great party spot is Mai Bar, located next to the pool. We were in luck as during our stay guest DJ Mark Doyle and Marc Rowell both from the UK were in town to rock the house! Time to shake those booty!

We had our dinner & breakfast at Nook, an all-day dining restaurant of Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral. The design is chic & stylish with the jet-set concept in mind. The white pods resembles that of a first class pods in a jet.

In conclusion, a lovely place to stay in where you have lots of options within walking distance. Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral has definitely picked an ideal spot as a base, within walking distance to KL Sentral, the hub of the train system. It was no wonder the hotel lobby was abuzz when we check-out on a Sunday afternoon. Professionals in sleek business attire, groups of friends, couples in their late 20s and 30s and small families made the crowd.  The biggest plus point for all travellers is the fast and free wifi available everywhere in the hotel, in our day and age we are unfortunately slaves to our technology and cannot live without connectivity. Aloft is certainly different from all the other hotels we have stayed and its this difference that makes it all so memorable.

Ultimately, what we love is Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral's vision to grow young talent. From front desk to housekeeping, the Aloft staff, called 'talents' are young, vibrant, energetic youth and they are, the very essence that keeps the hotel hip, cool and swanky!
