Tesmi's DRx Journey: Essential Facial!

Ever since I did this, I was so extremely happy.

P/S: Please show some mercy because I have no make-up on my face except for my brows.

Just a week ago, I went back to The DRx Clinic again to see Dr May!!! I was so excited to see her and Charlene. I haven't seen them for a month already and it just feels so good to see them because they're just such beautiful and cheery women.

-serious discussion going on here-

If you're wondering what the picture is about, it's just a normal procedure each time I visit the clinic. I have to take photos after each consultation so Dr May can check and monitor the progress of my complexion.

During the consultation, Dr May was reviewing the condition of my skin and she said it's improving, so yay! She also prescribed me another product (which I will do a post about soon) to conquer the plentiful whiteheads I have on my nose area. I was kinda sad I had no time to chit-chat with her because I was going to do the Essential Facial over at The Medispa!

Alright, so after the consultation, photo taking time! There's this special room for you to have your photos taken.

I was so excited, yet nervous. I'm not one who would frequent facials because I've heard too many disastrous experiences at spas. Besides, I'm always not convinced that a facial is essential. But after Joycelyn and Charlene were telling me about how freaking awesome this facial is, I was so convinced that I should go for it.

I have mentioned before in my previous DRx posts that I have terrible and stubborn blackheads, so this facial was supposed to get rid of them. Yes so that explains why I was like so excited the whole time I was in the clinic!!! While filling up a form, Charlene showed me her article on Her World. Dr May was featured on it as well! Omgosh. I was like so happy.

Anyway, it was time for me to head to the facial room!!! Meet my therapist, Wendy :) She's so pretty. Btw, all the nurses at DRx are so pretty and they have super good skin. Every time I visit it's like going to heaven with all the angels around me. Omgosh, does this analogy even make sense?!

Yup so here I am in my cozy facial room! There was this extremely therapeutic background music playing that I really loved hehe.

See how happy I was?! Tucked so snugly under the warm blanky ~ Time for my Essential Facial! There's also Essential Facial (Plus) which has another step, Microdermabrasion. I didn't go for that because my skin wasn't suitable for it!

Wendy helping me to cleanse my face

So there was the Ultrasonic Cleansing.
It uses an ultrasound device to eliminate dead cells from the skin's surface and loosen impurities, oil and comedones that are embedded in pores. The blackheads are then easily extracted without damaged to the surrounding skin. Exfoliation of the dead skin cells also allows for more effective penetration of the therapeutic substances that follow. Regular treatment will result in clearer, softer skin and an overall better complexion.

Basically, the Ultrasonic Cleansing is not even painful at all, it's like a metal spoon grazing over the surface of your skin. I was like half asleep when she did this!

After the Ultrasonic Cleansing, Wendy removed my blackheads and whiteheads with this metal tool. I would be lying if I said it didn't hurt, but I guess it was bearable? It feels like tiny pinches each time the tool touches your skin. It wouldn't hurt till you cry, but the pain is there!

Then, there was the Ultrasonic Nutrient Delivery.
It uses an ultrasound device to deliver the Pharmaceutical Grade vitamins and essential compounds into the skin for various benefits, according to the needs of the individual.

Well, Wendy decided to give me the PG Vitamin C!
This Vitamin C stimulates the production of collagen in the dermis for firmer, smoother and younger looking skin. It is also known to produce an overall skin lightening effect and a more even skin tone that is immediately noticeable after just a single treatment.

I swear Wendy is awesome because she totally knows what I needed. I have been complaining about uneven skin tone and I think this facial really made a difference.

After all the scraping, extraction of my black & white heads, and the Vitamin C, there was the Therapeutic Mask!!! Oh, I loved this part so much I fell asleep again.

Therapeutic Mask
Depending on the needs of the individual, the program ends with either a therapeutic mask or a peel. DRx's Alginate mask is made from high quality marine-derived ingredients with remarkable therapeutic properties.

After the whole facial, my skin felt so soft I was shocked when I touched it. Initially I wanted to put on make-up before heading for dinner but I just decided not to because I really felt that fresh. I'm so happy Wendy was my therapist, she's so gentle and careful, I felt that I was so safe in her hands.
