The Great Egg-Venture @ Sentosa HarbourFront

Easter is round the corner and if your wondering what to do with the kiddos why not bring them to Sentosa for an Egg-venture!

As part of Singapore’s largest Easter fiesta, The Great Egg-Venture, will kick off from 18 April to 11 May 2014 at the Sentosa HarbourFront precinct. Designed by some 200 people including local artists, various schools, beneficiaries  and youths from the National Youth Achievement Award Council of Singapore (NYAA), Noise Singapore and LASALLE College of the Arts, the creative and unique giant Easter Eggs measure 1.5 metres by 1 metre.

A peek behind the scene of how the Easter eggs are being transformed into arty, unique works of art will leave you in awe!

Quirky, By Temasek Polytechnic Design School
A fun and loving Easter monster, Quirky, loves Easter celebrations, especially the colorful assortment of eggs that come with it! Designed by Temasek Polytechnic, the egg will be designed using acrylic paint with the ears and legs created by paper marche, producing a three dimensional effect.

Syco03 by Local Graffiti Artist
One of the pioneer artists to explore 3D graffiti in Singapore, local graphic designer Syco03’s giant egg will feature an illustration of the Sentosa skyline. Using sharpie markers, his design will incorporate the vibrant offerings available on Sentosa, making it a world class destination. He will finish the design with a coat of clear polyurethane to protect the artwork.

Scalie the Mermaid by Temasek Polytechnic Design School
Design by Temasek Polytechnic, this mystical mermaid known as Scalie represents the magical Sentosa experience through the use of opulent pastel colours with pearl finishing. Painting the scales with impasto strokes, it will help provide a three dimensional effect on the egg.  A starfish will also be used to add to the magic of Scalie the Mermaid!

The Sheriff by Mural Art Design
Designed by Mural Art Design, this Wild West Sheriff at DESPERADOS, one of Sentosa
4D AdventureLand’s attractions beckons you to join him to wipe out the bandits. Bandits, beware!

WHENIWAFOUR by Local Illustrator
Similar to traditional Chinese porcelain chinaware, local illustrator WHENIWASFOUR’s giant egg will feature signature Sentosa icons through the use of Chinese blue and white rendering. An assortment of paint and markers including glass, porcelain and permanent markers will be used to produce the effect desired. The finer tip of permanent markers can help add to the finer details of the design.  A protective layer will be added once finished to help prolong the integrity of the artwork. Working with a fragile fiberglass platform, WHENIWASFOUR has to apply her strokes gently and carefully, also preventing mistakes which will be hard to remove. She will work on the Merlion icon first before adding the other details to the artwork.

Spanning across 520 hectares from Mount Faber to the HarbourFront area and onto Sentosa Island, the egg-hunters can hunt through the nooks and crannies of the Sentosa HarbourFront precinct for all 100 giant eggs and stand a chance to win attractive prizes.

If egg hunting isn't your thing no worries, an array of other egg-citing Easter-themed entertainment programmes are available as well as staycation deals. There's bound to be something egg-citing for everyone in the family!
