World Gourmet Summit 2014 ~ The Classics

From its humble beginnings, the World Gourmet Summit has come far, now in its 18th year, it has firmly established itself on the calendar of Singapore, dedicated to celebrating the distinct food and wine of various parts of the world! This amazing festival is now a globally recognized gala event visited by thousands every year who love fine dining, wine and tantalizing cuisines, as celebrity chefs and world renowned vinters from all over the world gather to create the magic of scrumptious dishes sacred to their part of the world! The World Gourmet Summit is organized by À La Carte Productions (a division of Peter Knipp Holdings Pte Ltd) with presenting partner Citibank Singapore Limited and Singapore Tourism Board has featured some of the greatest chefs in the past, including Klaus Erfort (2009), Marco Pierre White (2012), as well as many other infamous food and beverage experts.  

The 2014 edition is themed “The Classics” and will kick off from 26th March and run up till 5th April! The 11-day dining extravaganza will focus on ‘The Classics,’ with a host of Michelin-starred chefs and will also feature a Bordeaux from the Premier Grand Cru Classé list – the Chateau Mouton Rothschild.

The Summit includes many events such as the Wine & Restaurant Experience, Awards of Excellence, Chairty Dinner as well as the Culinary Master classes. The Charity Dinner which take place during the first week of the World Gourmet Summit has been added to the list of events since 2001, the proceeds of which go to the social services projects funded by Community Chest. Culinary Master Classes are yet another exciting addition to the list of events where celebrity chefs demonstrate the making of their signature dishes prior to treating the guests with samples of the same. These events take place in various 5 star hotels and top rated restaurants that participate in the event.

And for the first time ever, a small group of children will be lucky enough to enjoy a confectionery experience of a lifetime at Singapore’s first-ever Junior Chefs’ Pastry Workshop with Spanish Masterchef and magician of all things sweet, Christian Escribà. The workshop on Thursday, 3 April is a chance for 16 children, aged between 6 and 12 years, to let their imagination run wild with the man known as ‘The Mozart of Chocolate’ in an exclusive session held at ToTT on Dunearn Road.
