BA celebrates its double-decker service in Singapore

British Airways today celebrated the launch of its A380 superjumbo service in Singapore on board another double-decker icon, the GREAT-branded Routemaster London bus at Gardens By The Bay.

Bringing a touch of the UK to the streets of Singapore, 380 balloons were brought on board the iconic red bus, some with exclusive prizes inside, including the chance to win a pair of tickets to fly on the A380 to London in World Traveller economy class.

The lucky winner was Tsui Ka Kit who picked the winning balloon and won a pair of tickets to fly on the A380 from Singapore to London.

The double-decker aircraft will service the route three times a week from October 28, 2014. Tickets to fly on the A380 went on sale today on with prices in World Traveller economy starting from just S$1,328.

The new aircraft will offer customers one of the quietest cabins in the sky, with bigger overhead bins, extra storage space, cleaner air, mood lighting, improved in-flight entertainment and more power sockets for personal electronic equipment.

The airline now has four A380s, taking delivery of the latest into the fleet on January 14 with a further four deliveries expected later in the year. British Airways’ A380s already fly to Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and Johannesburg. The airline will begin A380 flights to Washington DC from September 1.

British Airways offers a twice-daily service from Singapore to London and a daily service to Sydney.
